The theme was "These United States".
Each month, members created two (2) different 8" blocks of their OWN design for each
of the 8 regions of the United States and then brought those in to the
Business meeting. One block turned in to be used in Charity/Benefit
quilt work by the guild. The other block was added into sets of blocks raffled off at the last meeting of the year in June. Each month
focused on a particular region of the US.

Color & Design Blocks: Quick Bowtie blocks, Autumn Leaf block in
monochromatic colors, Pansy pieced block,
BOM 1999/2000
Sampler Quilt Blocks, themed by month as follows: Oct = Ohio Star, Nov =
Halloween, Dec = Thanksgiving/Election Day, Jan = Millenium, Feb =
Hearts/Presidents Day/Mardigra, Mar = Kites/St Patricks Day,
Easter/Passover, Apr = Spring/Birdhouses, May = Mothers Day/Baby
animals/Memorial Day, June = Fathers Day/Strawberries/Flag Day. All Blocks
to be 12" finished. This means block turned in should measure 12 1/2"
because it will include 1/4" extra on all sides for seam allowance. Each
month turn in the block at the Business Meeting. Use 100% cotton fabric and
thread only. Blocks can be created by piecing, applique, stenciling, or
whatever strikes your fancy. Choice of color is up to you as well. All
blocks should be SIGNED on the FRONT using small signature and done on all
blocks you turn in. Use a fabric pen (pigma, signature pen). Make 1-4
blocks, all the same or different. As many blocks as you make, your name
will be entered that many times for the drawing to will all the blocks that
month. |
