Pincushion Workshop - October 22, 2015
For our October meeting Dot Robinson has volunteered to conduct a workshop on the Pocketbook Pincushion with which she won the pincushion competition at our June Quilt- a-way. If you wish to participate in this workshop you will need to have on hand the following supplies. Please have your pieces cut before the meeting in order to save time. See below.
Required ItemsCoordinating Fabrics:
(2) Fat Quarters [This makes two pincushions, but you need two coordinating fabrics for each pincushion. (2) 8" x 20" coordinated scraps will also work for one pincushion.] Fleece Batting: (2) 5 1/2” x 7” for each pincushion [Craft-tex makes a fusible table runner pad that works well. Non-fusible will work but not as easily.] Handle: 1 5/8” x 7” piece of light weight fusible interfacing Filling: 1 3/4 C. crushed walnut shells (available in quilt shops) or Poly-pellets, sand, small smooth aquarium rocks, or the filling of your choice. Small buttons, ribbons, ric rac or other trim to decorate. |
Cutting InstructionsFabric A & B (from each fabric):
(1) 3 1/4” x 4 1/4” (1) 3 3/4”x 4 1/4” (1) 3 1/4” x 8” Choose Fabric A or B: (2) 3 1/2 “ squares (pocket) (1) 2” x 71/2” strip (handle) Iron lite interfacing strip to handle strip matching long edge along one side Batting (2) 5 1/2” x 7” |
